i need a guitar around 200-400 dollars. It should be a steel string, im not sure what kind of body i really want, so just give me some suggestions. no classical guitars please. I will be moving onto an electric after i have played this for a few months. Although i will probably continue to play my acoustic.

i dont really know what to say, i dont think i have a "style of play"

i guess id like to play classic rock, and rock n roll. Some simple alternative and pop songs too. I just dont want any of that string buzzing i get on bad guitars. I kinda figured most acoustics sound the same style wise?...

I would dedinitely say in that price range that seagull can't be beat! I don't own one but I've played several at guitar stores around and for $250 to $400 (several of their models fall here) you can get a very nicely crafted guitar!

I've yet to see quality like that in guitars in that price range. Oh yeah, they're made in Canada... another plus... made in North America.

Oh, one more thing... you might want to consider getting something smaller than a dreadnot. Maybe an auditorium size??? A lot of people that play rock on an acoustic like the smaller body size so that it doesn't get too boomy. You'll just have to play some different sizes to see what you like.

Ther Washburn D10S is the worlds best selling acoustic guitar. For good reason. The WD18S is all solid wood (top, sides and back) for just a little over $300.

There are also a number of other offerings from Washburn in the $200 to $400 range with most having solid tops and ALL having the Lifetime Warranty to the original owner.

IMO, can't touch that!

All the above are great guitars, but I would also add the Kona K1(acoustic), K1E(acoustic/electric) or the K2 (acoustic electric thin body). I have a K1E and it is great. You can find them on line and on ebay for less than 200.00. Check the reviews on all the suggestions so far they all stack up pretty well.

if you will be playing electric mainly you should start on the electric, it is a little easier to play, and you can get a really nice setup with amp in your price range. You will eventually want an acoustic, and when that comes you should get the one you want and not settle for anything inferior.
