Members Fleabitten Posted September 24, 2004 Members Posted September 24, 2004 I have aquired buzz at the 12th and 13th frets on my Alvarez PF90c (Professional Folk Cut-away), resently. I changed strings about a month ago, but the strings are the same size ( not sure about tension). I didn't notice the buzz untill about 10 days ago or so, but I dont play up there much. I live in Nashville and the humidity has been all over the place lately, maybee thats it? Is it just a simple rod adjustment?
Members Fleabitten Posted September 24, 2004 Author Members Posted September 24, 2004 Also, it is on all strings, and also includes the 11th fret a little.
Members Carle Posted September 25, 2004 Members Posted September 25, 2004 Have you looked down the neck from the nut to the bridge to see if the neck is bowed back or the top is swelled up at the 12 fret to the 14 fret? If the humidity is high the top is probably swelled up and causing the buzz. Get a hygrometer. you may have to get a dehumidifier. It should be kept at 50 to 55%.
Members Fleabitten Posted September 26, 2004 Author Members Posted September 26, 2004 There isn't a hump, but the neck does bow inword.
Members Carle Posted September 26, 2004 Members Posted September 26, 2004 Maybe you should take it to a good repairman and have him look at it. If it is bowed in then it should have enough relief.
