Members BiggRedd Posted October 7, 2004 Members Posted October 7, 2004 So I bought my Fender DG-11E just over a year ago. Last week I was playing for about an hour or more and bam. I thought I broke a string. nope. The frekin bridge broke in half. The strings are still attached. The piece that elevates the strings and hides the pick up broke off and half of the wood piece that is glued to the guitar. Luckily, the manager at G.C. sold me a warranty for 1/2 price. I hardly ever buy warranties. thanks god I did. So I am supposed to send it back today or tomorrow and they are just going to send me a check for it. I love almost everything about this guitar. The black, the chrome, the feel is good but haven't compared it to much. The sound sometimes sounds not as bright as I like but could be the strings. I plan on buying the same one again. Is there any reason I shouldn't? They had lowered the guitar from $220 or so to $180 for me.
Members kwakatak Posted October 7, 2004 Members Posted October 7, 2004 It was plainly a piece of defective workmanship and should have been covered by the manufacturer's warranty IMO. I also looked a the Fender acoustics and quickly decided that there's much better out there. You should step up to a higher quality. Start by looking at Seagull, Washburn or Epiphone.
Members Rhythmalism Posted October 7, 2004 Members Posted October 7, 2004 It's a good chance to look around and see what's out there. You can always come back to the Fenders if nothing looks good.
Members Pedro Posted October 8, 2004 Members Posted October 8, 2004 sorry to hear your story. Before you get another fender acoustic I would suggest that you look into your other options, there are a lot of good guitars out there that don't cost much more than the fender.
Members FingerBone Bill Posted October 8, 2004 Members Posted October 8, 2004 What these guys are subtly trying to tell you are that Fender Acoustics are the absolute {censored} end of the market, a marginal step up from Esteban. Have a look at the options kwak mentions (especially the seagulls). I'm sure you'll find something better, but at the end of the day it's your ears you have to please.

Yeah, you summed it up very well, nice one man. Get something like a Taylor 110 for brightness... new they're $420 at my local dealer.
Members Pedro Posted October 8, 2004 Members Posted October 8, 2004 You might want to check out the carvin web site www.carvin.com, you can sometimes get one of their cobalts for less than 300.
