Members onetubetone Posted October 11, 2004 Members Posted October 11, 2004 How good of a deal is this guitar??? It's basically exactly what Im looking for, but with alittle too steep of a price tag:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2385&item=3753547826&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW What do you guys think???
Members LosBoleros Posted October 11, 2004 Members Posted October 11, 2004 It just seems to me that if your talking Solid Koa, then $1,500.00 is not outrageous. It's not a bargain but if it's what you want then GFI. (go for it)
Members onetubetone Posted October 11, 2004 Author Members Posted October 11, 2004 Oh yeah, it's certainly not outrageous. I just wanted some opinions... and I really do love the tone of Koa, so that's what I was aiming for.
Members onetubetone Posted October 11, 2004 Author Members Posted October 11, 2004 Do you think it's worth the extra $$$ over this guitar: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33028&item=3753377545&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW ?????
Members UGB Posted October 11, 2004 Members Posted October 11, 2004 an 09 is going to be 'fancier' than an 03, but I'm not certain that affects the tone/playability at all. The 09 is also a cut away, the 03 isn't.If you're hot for a Larrivee OM w/Koa, go to www.guitaradoptions.com and talk w/Dave. He can hook you up. Best selection of Larrivee's on the net that I've seen.
Members onetubetone Posted October 11, 2004 Author Members Posted October 11, 2004 Hey thanks for the info. I'll look into that.
Members WilsonMak Posted October 11, 2004 Members Posted October 11, 2004 1500 dollars isn't too bad. I don't think you can buy an 09 series larrivee for that price.
Members fingerpicker Posted October 11, 2004 Members Posted October 11, 2004 We can see the pics and read the specs, but we aren't actually PLAYING the guitar so it's kind of pointless to drive yourself nuts going through all the ebay listings. FWIW I bought a Taylor 810 off Ebay and it was the worst sounding one I think I've ever played. It was in perfect cosmetic shape, but tonally sucked. $1000.00 down th drain. Fortunately there are a great many people who have "Ebay Fever" so I wound up putting it back on there and pretty much came out even.Hey I thought you "Always wanted a Yairi?!?!?!?"
Members onetubetone Posted October 12, 2004 Author Members Posted October 12, 2004 LOL I did always want a Yairi, but I also always wanted a Larrivee with Koa back and sides if I could get one for a good price
Members fingerpicker Posted October 12, 2004 Members Posted October 12, 2004 I hear you!! Good luck in your search! It can take a lifetime. I still haven't found my "perfect" studio (recording) guitar yet...
Members 54merk Posted October 13, 2004 Members Posted October 13, 2004 An OMV-09 (Rosewood) lists for $2698. Not sure how much more, if any, they charge for Koa. So $1300 is a pretty good price. However you can get a new one for up to 40% off list, which includes a nice benefit, the warranty, so you need to figure out how much the warranty is worth to you.
Members LosBoleros Posted October 13, 2004 Members Posted October 13, 2004 I still say GFI. $1,500.00 for a great guitar that looks like that is OK with me. Do you have a Sniper? If not you should get one. It's the only way to bid on Ebay. Try Auction Sniper.com You can use it a few times for free. You bid will be placed at the very last second and only one dollar above the next price.
