Easy Question - Magnetic PU & Strings

Hey All -

 

I have an acoustic with magnetic pickup, the Lace Acela (a cool axe), and I forgot what it said about buying strings for it...

 

Do I want Phosphore - Bronze or 80/20's or what? I know it mentioned to "buy this one sort, and not the other" but I can't remember.

Magnetic pickups work on the magnetic Theory. The bronze winding of bronse strings is non-magnetic so the pick up only picks up the core.

Thomastik-Infeld Spectrum bronze strings work beautifully on my Gibson with a Sunrise pickup.

I would think either will work equally well....when I used to use a Lace "Bronze Senser" on my various acoustic guitars, I usually used D'Addario Phos. Bronze, but if you like the 80/20s better, I'm sure they'll work just fine.

 

You also might want to try DR "Zebras", as they're designed for magnetic P/U-equipted acoustic guitars, as are the GHS "White Bronze"...

Modern soundhole P/Us are designed to work with virtually ANY formulation of steel strings.

Thanks all - I guess I won't worry about it too much then... probably put on plain older Elexirs as I don't play that guitar too much...
