Members gt5litre Posted October 25, 2004 Members Posted October 25, 2004 Traded in my Seagull acoustic I bought new in 1992, used store credit for a returned pedal and a case I ordered that was not up to snuff, and traded in a little used Koren electric guitar and picked up Yairi DY 77. It has an ebony fretboard with tradition snowflake inlays, Indian rosewood back and sides and natural wood binding with a spruce top that has aged nicely. Neck is straight and no issues with the bridge. Needs to have binding work done since there is a 2 inch piece missing. Very dynamic guitar with a warm liquid tone and it can be very loud. Neck is a fat "V" carve but suits me well since it is narroe at the nut, more like an electric where my Seagull was 1 3/4" width. The guitar has two different acoustic pickups. One is a mic I presume and has no tone or volume controls. The other pickup has a separate output jack and has tone and volume control. Each sounds very differnt from the other. Any ideas why it has two systems and how does each work? Brent

Members RainsongDR1000 Posted October 25, 2004 Members Posted October 25, 2004 Congrats! I loved my Yairi DY90 (still do). I think they are one of the bet kept secrets in the guitar world. The pickup and mic are probably either very old or an after market. Sounds like you'd use 2 cords, 1 to ea channel of a PA or amp (or something like the Solstice or Fishman pocket blender) and adjust the mic volume and EQ from there.
