Members bdw8 Posted November 12, 2004 Members Posted November 12, 2004 Wow, I was really impressed. It sounded great. And the kicker... it was only $300. I think this is the model, but I'm not too sure. It looks just like it (no inlays, bronze-colored tuners, no pickguard). I've played Seagulls and this Takamine definitely give them a run for their money. Anyone else play one of these?
Members tdawgodopolus Posted November 12, 2004 Members Posted November 12, 2004 Actually, for $300, I think that the model is the GS330S. Here are some reviews.
Members PapaTom Posted November 12, 2004 Members Posted November 12, 2004 It must be the GS330S (pretty good guitar) as the AN10 carries a much higher price tag.
Members Guitar Taz Posted November 12, 2004 Members Posted November 12, 2004 I've owned Takamines since 1978! My first model was the Hirade 5 Classical Series. It was made exactly the same way it is today with cedar top and rosewood sides and back!Talk of awesome tonal quality and warm sound this model had it! The price at the time was $350.00 complete with Takamine hardshell case! I wish I had that guitar today! The Hirade 5 starts at $1500.00 nowadays. Twelve years ago a fire wiped out my entire collection of 28 guitars and basses. Most are irreplaceable. I stopped playing because of this. This past July I renewed my interest and I'm started to rebuild a collection of guitars acoustics and electrics but only 1 bass so far! Getting back to the Takamines, I just bought the Takamine 2004 Limited Edition. It AWESOME! The sound and tonal quality gives many of the high end guitars like Martin, Taylor, etc. a run for their money! I learned that guitars that are Japanese made are not to be disregarded. Some of the finest and expensive classical guitars are made in Japan by Kohno. Japanese are excellent luthiers and wood workers. Just check out the prices on their wood carving tools, the prices far exceed the American made chisels and woodworking tools. Guitars like fine wine must be sampled and tested by the person who is purchasing the instrument. What is pleasing to one person may not be to another!
Members bdw8 Posted November 13, 2004 Author Members Posted November 13, 2004 Yep... You are right, it was the GS330S. I did play the AN10, too. I remember it all now. I was really impressed with this guitar especially for that price. It looks great (better in person than that picture) and it's sound is similar to Seagulls. Nice guitar. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone wanting something under $500.

I own a Takamine currently and it is a very fine guitar. Only got better with age, too.
