Members inetbob Posted November 18, 2004 Members Posted November 18, 2004 I'm looking at these two acoustic guitars mainly because I like the shape and they are in the same price range. I play electrics now (rock and jazz) but would like an acoustic for fingerpicking, fingerstyle jazz, and folk. I plan to add a sound hole pickup to add to the variety of sound and because this guitar shape (mini jumbo with florentine cut away) is like many older style hollow jazz boxes. So, anyone out there in HC land played both? Tell me what you think. Bob Z.
Members JModius Posted November 18, 2004 Members Posted November 18, 2004 I had a PR5-E for about 10 years. Sold it when I bought my Takamine. It wasn't a bad guitar at all. They sound very good plugged in and they have the XLR as well as 1/4" output on them, so you can hook 'em up to a mic wire and off you go. I just reached the point where I was playing more unplugged than plugged, so the thin body wasn't doing it for me.
Members inetbob Posted November 18, 2004 Author Members Posted November 18, 2004 Unfortunately, I havn't seen the Epiphone in person, only the Ibanez. The current descriptions on MF and Zzounds don't say anything about XLR so that may have been eliminated. Thanks for the info.
