for years the only "acoustic" i had was a danelectro convertible. this year i bought a taylor 414ce.

IMO, its not that certain acoustic guitars will sound better with certain effects. acoustic guitars are not electric guitars. its not like dirt pedals, where they interact differently with single coils and humbuckers. keep it simple, and please don't try using your acoustic with your fuzz probe. its just not worth it.

A Chorus pedal used with a slow speed and varying intesity works for acoustic. Just don't leave it on for everything. I usually only switch mine on for little parts of a song to add a little extra emotion (when the song calls for it).

Most acoustic amps have some form of chorus included (take that flamers). Years ago I used a Maestro Stage Phaser that you could control with your feet, for my 12 string. On certain songs it killed. When you turned on the phasing, it would also switch on a secondary output which I had hooked up to a separate amp with additional bass. So a stereo phasing would come in along with a fair amount more bass. I would play off notes starting to feed back, and lots of poeple though I had a bass player with me. I don't do that anymore, as I have become more of an acoustic purist over time. But, I listened to a couple freinds playing a while back, and they had all kinds of FX happening (and they sounded great). Not sure what they were using as they had a whole pedal board that I didn't get a good look at. I will find out eventually. One thing I have learned to do is to flip the acoustic Guitar out of phase to help reduce feedback. Once again, most acoustic amps include this feature. Good luck in your search!

Never solo, but I like to use FX sparingly w/ my trio...my pedal board is set-up thusly: Boss Heavy Metal -> Thomas Organ Crybaby -> Boss Super phaser -> Boss (standard) Phaser -> Boss flanger -> Boss Super Chorus -> Boss Harmonizer -> Boss DD-5 -> Shobud passive volume pedal -> Boss DD-3 -> amp -> line-out to PA.

Like strong spices in cooking, I think the "key" is to use 'em sparingly...I, myself, never use any one effect or combination of effects more than once an evening, as a general rule... a little goes a lo-o-o-o-o-ong way! :)

Yamaha has an acoustic "STOMP" pedal...(DG Stomp for acoustic maybe?) that sounds really great.

you might want to check that out. Otherwise a good chorus pedal (CE-2, CE-5, Small Clone) works good on acoustic.

Concur with the Yamaha AG Stomp. In a single effects box you get stereo chorus, delay, EQ, feedback reduction, volume level, and microphone modeling technology. Unfortunately, you cant' use chorus and delay simultaneously. Personally, I like a little flange with delay for some stuff I play, and delay in and of itself I feel is indespensbile. You can get some good used prices on these boxes. All in all, it depends upon what you play, I suppose.

In a simpler pedal, the Boss AD-3 is outstanding. It has reverb, chorus, and a notch filter/feedback control along with bass and treble controls. The chorus and reverb are outstanding. I know of several people around my neck of the woods who generally hate any form of chorus, but really like it in the AD-3. Very well made and not a lot of money. I got mine on EBAY a couple of years ago. Boggs
