I'm looking to upgrade from my Ultrasound AG-50SD2, and I keep going back to Schertler and AER amps. Anyone using either of these, or have experience with them? Thoughts? Comments?

I use one and I love the sound and the size of it. I've used it in small bars with no problem. A friend in the audience told me it spreads the sound really well - couldn't tell it was coming from one place. Why do you want to upgrade from the Ultrasound?

I have a Schertler Unico that meets my needs perfectly. I almost bought the Ultrasound AG-50SD3, but it didn't have phantom power, which I needed for my condenser mic. And although my guitar sounded like heaven through it, the vocals sounded too boxy.

If you're looking to upgrade, you may look at the Ultrasound Pro 100 (or even the 200). They have more power and you can assign "different" effects to the guitar and vocals.

Schertler also makes an 80watt "David" amp which is a 2 channel amp that sounds awesome on both vocals and guitar (and has phantom power).

But I ended up going with the 4 channel 185watt Unico, mainly because my guitar pickup isn't the loudest in the world and I needed the additional volume. Chris at Schertler was very helpful in helping me find the right amp to suit my needs. You can email him from the Schertler site if you have any questions.
