Members Josh Savoy Posted January 14, 2005 Members Posted January 14, 2005 Now I know Contreras is a big builder in spain, but locally (a state away) I found a Contreras for $200. No pictures, but close enough to go pick up. The catch is it had a crack in the back, but it was repaired as it was recieved in the US by a major californian luthier. He said it plays and sounds fantastic. I'm a classical guitar student playing with a {censored}ty fender and was wondering if this would be a good deal. I mean electric guitar wise, a solid tone/feel is worth fixing it up. Even if the guitar was a little beaten, would it be worth fixing up?

Look at Spanish made Sanchez or Rodriguez, more money, but far better quality.

If you can find a Lucida Concerto, that would be a better one to get.
Members FiddleSteve Posted January 16, 2005 Members Posted January 16, 2005 I've had several of the upper end new Contreras guitars through here. Nice. I don't know about the lower end. I rather like the Concerto. Have had several through. All worked very nicely for the modest price. I prefer the crisp tone of the Picado, also from Lucida Artista, but it is a flamenco version. Steve
