Members solitaire Posted February 18, 2005 Members Posted February 18, 2005 Any-one interested in a cheap Martin OM-28 GE the bid is at $89 and the auction ends in two days. Question is: why the low opening bid?http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33028&item=7301902693&rd=1 Cheers!
Members tmorrow Posted February 18, 2005 Members Posted February 18, 2005 New ebayer (registered yesterday). No pictures. 3 day auction.Too many red flags - this is most likely a non-existant guitar.

Looks like some-one's in need of easy money, thinking a Martin for breadcrumbs is like money for old ropes.

Members GN-Nick Posted February 18, 2005 Members Posted February 18, 2005 I just asked if I could pick it up. I'll let you know.

Some-one ough to tell that bidder though, or he/ she might not be so happy in a few days. I have no feedback so I'm unable to do that my-self.
Members 54merk Posted February 19, 2005 Members Posted February 19, 2005 The seller does not have the guitar. No one would price that instrument that low without a reserve. No pictures and no history. And no credit or Paypal accepted. These ones are easy as hell to spot.
Members tmorrow Posted February 19, 2005 Members Posted February 19, 2005 I see there is a second bidder. "Seller" is now hoping these two will start duking it out for this "deal of a lifetime" and raise the price considerably. If a few more bite, the price might actually start to approach a real level. Whatever it ends at, buyer fires off payment (seller will probably talk him into Western Union transfer or fake escrow site) and "seller" disappears, only to play same game under a different ID.
Members solitaire Posted February 19, 2005 Author Members Posted February 19, 2005 Right... It smacks me, the seller could infact be the initial bidder. To get the wheel rolling, the seller places a bid and now he can't withdraw or force an end to the auction.
Members solitaire Posted February 19, 2005 Author Members Posted February 19, 2005 Now there's a third bidder...

Members GN-Nick Posted February 20, 2005 Members Posted February 20, 2005 I asked them to take a look at it. Along with several hundred others I suspect.

You're the best, Nick! Several hundred, eh? With that GE it's fairly plain to see with the naked eye, once ones eyes adapt them-selves to the dim light at e-bay. Had my doubts about a guitar I bid for, due to its rather low entry bid and reserve. Once I had established contact with the seller, and since the seller had a strong connection to the builder, I went ahead.

Members nylon rock Posted February 21, 2005 Members Posted February 21, 2005 Zolotaryov Roman must judge the world by himself. Probably has already spent the money he feels he's sure to make.
Members LDF Posted February 21, 2005 Members Posted February 21, 2005 Those russians have a lot to learn about ripping off consumer savvy westerners. Apparently he thinks he's the first to have ever come up with this scheme. DA, IT'S FOOL-PROOF!! HAHAHAHAA

That's probably not a Martin he's selling, more like a Martinovsky.
