Members acoustiholic Posted February 25, 2005 Members Posted February 25, 2005 Well I went and did it.... put a deposit on a HD28VS. I love the longer body and 12 fret neck. I can't wait to pay off the balance and take her home. SOON! Anyone have a story on this model?
Members solitaire Posted February 26, 2005 Members Posted February 26, 2005 For the full story, check out the Dreadnought story on www.martinguitar.com > [any button (don't ask me why)] > catalogue download. This model is built after the original, joint Dittson Martin design that was named after the gigantic British battle cruisers of the time.
Members JasmineTea Posted February 26, 2005 Members Posted February 26, 2005 Man, Supercongratulations! Reading your posts about this thing has got me thinking.
Members acoustiholic Posted February 26, 2005 Author Members Posted February 26, 2005 I'm picking it up this afternoon. Hope we get snowed in on Monday.
Members rh2d Posted February 26, 2005 Members Posted February 26, 2005 Yes I have a comment. I think you bought the best guitar made on the universe. Someday I will own one. I have played one and had to take my right hearing aid out it was so loud. What I like about it is that you would have no trouble fingerpicking it though it's primarily a flatpicker. Congratulations.
Members acoustiholic Posted February 27, 2005 Author Members Posted February 27, 2005 Well gents, I'm now officially the proud owner of a brand new HD-28VS. I'm humbled- words cannot describe the beauty of this instrument. My wife who knows less than nothing about guitars and music (but I still love her) even noticed the tone of this on as being "nicer" than the others. She thought I should keep this one a while. I think I'll take her advice.
Members guitarcapo Posted February 27, 2005 Members Posted February 27, 2005 Persoannly I hate it when my wife says "Hmm, yea sounds nice" as a passing comment. It just confirms how much they don't get it. I make the same comment about shoes she spent all day picking out and thinking about.
Members Cortfan Posted February 28, 2005 Members Posted February 28, 2005 It will only get better with time. Nice purchase.
Members michaell Posted March 1, 2005 Members Posted March 1, 2005 Martin D 28 is the model by which all other acoustic guitars are judged. Congrats ml

Members acoustiholic Posted March 2, 2005 Author Members Posted March 2, 2005 Thanks for everyone's compliments. It's real nice to share my excitement with other folks who get crazy over guitars. You know, a few years ago if you told me I would be spending this amount on a guitar I'd have told you you're crazy. It's very easy to get caught up in this passion- so listen to me all you newbies!!!!! YOUR NEXT!!!! P.S.- I'm really a piano player- degree'd and 40 years of dedication, but there's a sexy-ness and intimacy associated with the acoustic guitar that is truly unique.
