Members CaveDweller Posted March 5, 2005 Members Posted March 5, 2005 this may be a pointless post since i can't post a pic of the guitar BUT HERE GOES: 1) smallish dreadnaught body...the wood is a darker caramel color.....sort of a medium brown. the top, back and sides (and back-of-the-neck) are all the same color. 2) there is an aged binding around the upper rim of the body..it looks kinda "tortoise-shellish" but it is quite worn. 3) a dark redish toroise pickguard held on by 3 screws. 20 frets on the neck. 4) the headstock simply says "Gibson" in gold ink. the top surface of the headstock is black. the tuning keys are aged white (ivory?) 5) the serial number is almost worn off. it is on the back (top) of the headstock and appears to have been orignally stamped into the wood. i can't read all of it but the first three numbers are 868. i got this from a friend recently. i plays and sounds FANTASTIC. i "think" it is a late 60's model of some kind. the color is very unique. sorry for the lack of pictures,..but,..well...i'm upgrading/changing computers soon and (as of now) don't have the capability. if any of the above clues ring a bell please let me know. thanks.

I just checked in Gruhns Vintage guitar guide and your guitar is an LGO.All mahogany, ladder bracing.Introduced 1958;it had an adjustable plastic bridge in 1962.The screwdown pickguard puts it after 1960 and a rosewood bridge with the belly facing the soundhole puts it after 1968.The model was discontinued in 1974.Hope this helps.Cheers,Andy.
