Members Eagleboy Posted March 14, 2005 Members Posted March 14, 2005 Hey guys, I have a gig on the 19th---that's really no problem though. The problem is that on Wednesday of last week, I was working on one of my design projects and I took a nice chunk of flesh off of my right hand's ring-finger (I'm right-handed). I had to reschedule my Friday lesson. It looks a whole lot better than it did last week, but any kind of pressure on the wound triggers a lot of pain. I need to be able to practice and be able to play the 2-hour gig on Saturday! You try to take the best care of your hands as possible, but some accidents are just unavoidable. Any advice? -Tom
Members woody b Posted March 15, 2005 Members Posted March 15, 2005 Fill the place where the chunk of flesh is missing with superglue. I'm serious. There has been several discusions on here about it. I'm a mechanic and it seems I'm always cutting my hands. It will feel better instantly and it will feel good as new in a day or so. I think the pain has something to do with an exposed nerve or something like that. There are several liquid bandage products out, newskin or something like that is the name of one. The main ingredient in them is superglue.
Members RainsongDR1000 Posted March 15, 2005 Members Posted March 15, 2005 I've used superglue and it works OK but the "Liquid skin" stuff, besides being anti-bacterial and analgesic, is also more flexible than super glue and won't crack as easily. I also sliced my finger and had to play this weekend, I put one of those finger "Condoms" on too. Doesn't slide very well, but it may get you through the night. The 19th is 5 days away, I'd put as much ointment and regular bandaids on it until the time comes you need to glue it!
Members Eagleboy Posted March 15, 2005 Author Members Posted March 15, 2005 Thanks guys---I had superglue around my dormroom, so I got some in there, and it worked pretty well. I just jammed for about 2 hours with a little bit of pain, and the glue cracked out of the wound. I think tomorrow I'll head into town to get some of that liquid skin stuff to try it out. I never hurt my hands except right before a gig... damn my luck. Thanks---I'll let you know how the stuff works out!
