hybrid guitar classical/flamenco

Hello,

I was wondering If any one could give me some advice on "hybrid" nylon guitars (flamenco concert guitars?).

I play mainly fingerstyle (jazz, classical, fingerpicking', flamenco). I am looking for a quality nylon guitar which has some of the features of an acoustic guitar (cutaway, thin neck, built-in neck) and sounds somewhere in between a traditional classical and flamenco guitar.

does anyone know guitars which apply to the description above?

Thank you

Frank

I'm not into hybrid nylons and Flamenco in a big way my-self, but I know some who is: Steve Stevens, perhaps mostly know for his electric guitar stuff. He plays Godin nylons and eg. on the Storyteller DVD with Billy Idol I believe he gives something of a Maple topped Godin quite a number of slaps in a very Flamenco-like way (was it in "Don't Need a Gun"?) - very impressive. Knowing mr Stevens has infact released a Flamenco album on which he plays a real acoustic Flamenco style guitar, I guess he'd know what works where.

"A truly beautiful instrument that bridges the gap between a traditional nylon string guitar and the sci-fi future of computers, synths and samplers. I could not have done my Flamenco A Go Go record without it!" - Steve Stevens, about the Godin Multiac ACS-SA Two Voice, as copied from the Godin homepage http://www.godinguitars.com/. That about the Sci-Fi has to do with the Synth Access it comes with, compatible with Roland synths and equip.

Strikes me that perhaps you were looking into sort of a cross-breed of a Spanish and a Flamenco. In that case test a Negra Flamenco of any brand that doesn't claim to have the patent to the Flamenco sound. Many Negras are known to deliver a too rounded and too sweet sound for a true Flamenco style guitar.
