Members jrstory Posted April 1, 2005 Members Posted April 1, 2005 I played a Norman B20 today. Nice guitar. I may buy one. Any advice from players out there?
Members digitalsnipe Posted April 1, 2005 Members Posted April 1, 2005 I have owned one for about 8 months now. Yea, its a nice guitar. I like the sound and playability. It may be just the one I have but I have had to get the neck adjusted a few times. I like low action so I had the luthier I bought it from put it where I like it. That required shaving down the bridge and saddle. But, it may be too low now. I play all over the fretboard and found that if adjusted low, it plays well at the nut end but it buzzes when played at or near the 12th fret. Neck adjustments just don't completely cure the bussing. And, the sound suffers some with the action placed low. It is that way now as a matter of fact so I will have the saddle shimmed up a little and the action re-adjusted. I live where the seasons change full swing and that might have had something to do with the neck's stability. The message in this story - If you like the action as it is from the factory, leave it there and you won't have any problems. If you do get it adjusted don't get it too close. I tried to make it play like my other 12 (Guild F-412) but thats expecting maybe a little too much from it. Otherwise, I liked this guitar so much when I first played it that I bought it on the spot. I thought it to be extremely under-priced for it's quality and decided to get while getting was good. I payed $615.00 with the HSC.
Members fatback Posted April 1, 2005 Members Posted April 1, 2005 I have the Norman B20 (6) I love this guitar, but I do not have the action set to low. The nut and bridge material I think could do with changing but its not urgent. Phil
