Members Prozak Posted April 1, 2005 Members Posted April 1, 2005 What's everyones take on this? Assuming you take care of the guitar, and the guitar is a few years old with no problems, how likely is it that a warranty would come into play?
Members GN-Nick Posted April 1, 2005 Members Posted April 1, 2005 I've never used a warranty. I know some who have, but it seems that it usually is used within the first couple of months. I do insure my instruments though, I think that might be a bit more useful.
Members 35fingerpicker Posted April 2, 2005 Members Posted April 2, 2005 I've had to use my warranty a couple of times on my 1976 HD-28 and it'll sure come in handy when the time comes for a neck reset.
Members d28andm1911a1 Posted April 2, 2005 Members Posted April 2, 2005 Depends on the guality of the guitar, the maker, and the age. Martin has great warrantys, I've had about $600 worth of work done on my 30 yr old D-28 under warranty in the last 6 yrs, (no work before that) But an older guitar will sound better. So if I was looking at a 20 yr old guitar vs new, I'd figure in the cost of a neck reset and if it was the same as the new price I'd buy the old one. If it was a 5 yr old guitar I'd buy the new one unless the used price was say $300-500 cheaper.
