Members Prozak Posted April 9, 2005 Members Posted April 9, 2005 I read through frets.com on polishing and cleaning your fingerboard, and I was wondering if the steel wool grade #0000 would damage your inlays? It wasn't mentioned, so I'm not sure.
Members JasmineTea Posted April 10, 2005 Members Posted April 10, 2005 I would'nt. Never heard of anyone useing steel wool.
Members double rocker Posted April 10, 2005 Members Posted April 10, 2005 you could try an old toothbrush or similar. i'd do that before using steel wool.
Members GN-Nick Posted April 10, 2005 Members Posted April 10, 2005 I don't know for inlays, but there is no problem using 0000 for fretboards. I don't use it everytime. Maybe once a year after a long time of heavy playing. Go with the grain and go easy.
Members Mr Handman Posted April 10, 2005 Members Posted April 10, 2005 I have used 0000 steel wool many times. Work against the grain, then finished with the grain. Lightly! Then for non-finished rosewood fretboards I use 'Love Potion #15' fretboard saver. Although I haven't used in on Ebony, if it works the same as rosewood......fantasic!
