Usual Christian lyric content warning... Not trying to convert anyone or anything. Just sharing a little of our work in hopes that you can appreciate the music content...

Our group is "Circle of Friends" and we have 2 CDs out. This is a live take from our service this past Sunday... We put it together with only one 1.5 hour rehearsal and a warm-up. The pictures were from the warm-up.

My speakers are on the floor in the area alongside where the percussionists are. The mics which were high up (you can see them in one of the photos) didn't capture the guitar as well as the rest (especially the percussion which was also higher up), but the balance during the service was wonderful. I'm playing a Walden D552 12-string. Enjoy! It builds throughout...

Thanks, Tioga_man... The guitar was balanced in the room, but the recording mics being high and my speakers being low and my guitar way off to the side caused the imbalance in the recording. It was there in the house. The congas were also better balanced in the house as they were high and more in line with the recording mics. The deep drum was a bohdran (sp?) that my wife was playing.

I will be sure to tell Tracy, the black singer, what you suggested. She has a killer voice and I sang alongside her in a couple of other pieces that day at her insistence and it was a wonderful thing! :D Boggs

Greg,it's nice that a fellow believer can post pics and recodings around here,I need to stay out of Open Jam! I go to another froum site that allows one to share with everybody who comes to the site,if you PM me,I'll share the site with you. BTW,your song sounds a lot like something Rich Mullens had done,it's defintly celtic sounding.

That was really beautifully done , its nice to see that churches elsewhere have worship groups who play in service.

KATMAN, do share that link if you get the chance, I too would like to visit.

Here's our small church coming together in music;

suprising what can be acheived with a couple of mics, a soundcard, an old PC and faith.

Next year we'll be able to use the new DAW and condenser mics.

Mine were, I'm assuming Greg's were too, he mentions in his post that they had 90 mins practise time before service.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I do appreciate it! We had a 20 minute warm-up before the service and the pictures were taken during that. The 90 minutes was when we first put the piece together and arranged it the Thursday before. We did 2 other pieces as well... one new to us and one we have done in the past. The total time encompassed those as well. Not too bad for a bunch of amateurs! :D Boggs

I know you want to get your message out and therefore you need all that singing, but more guitar would be welcome. Just make it spirit filled guitar.

I like your black singer's voice.

She does have a nice resonance. I thought what Boggs did fit nicely, sounded to me like he held the whole thing together. I like the meter, although the drums tended to rush. The horns were (surprizingly) right in tune.... The second time it goes to the Amin-Emin-D thing, the Amin needs a little more definition, not louder or anything, just voice the minor 3rd a little stronger. Mabey the horns could do that.

  • But like he said, what do you want for one take and two mic's?
