Members digitalsnipe Posted April 16, 2005 Members Posted April 16, 2005 I started a thread on the Song Writing forum asking for the definition of acoustic music from those guys over there. Anyone here care to give some explanation? Just because a piece is played on an acoustic guitar doesn't necessarily define it. Classical Gas performed on a dread is still a classical piece and not Acoustical Gas. Any takers?

What about the music? The inference is any music that does not require electronics to produce the primary tone? That's where I'm a little slow on the uptake. So, the mandoline, banjo, violin and any other stringed instrument sans electronics is acoustic, in the technical sense, but is there a particular style or genre defining acoustic guitar music? I just don't subscribe to the technical definition that groups a banjo in with my notion of acoustic music.
Members slider Posted April 16, 2005 Members Posted April 16, 2005 you notion of acoustic music is too narrow.
