Members sub rosa Posted April 30, 2005 Members Posted April 30, 2005 ..this is good stuff. Never heard anything other than River Man before and saw them in a deal...my best buy since Jeff Buckley. I got Five Leaves Left and Pink Moon..the store didn't have the 2nd album. Very haunting beautiful stuff.

Members braif Posted May 2, 2005 Members Posted May 2, 2005 Nick Drake is one very rare example of an artist's music in a television commercial being a good thing. Had it not been for the Volkswagen commercial that had "Pink Moon" in it, An awefull lot of people, myself included, would never have heard of him...he probably wouldn't be getting any radio play of Sirius or anywhere, had it not been for the commercials. I bought a "boxed set" called "Fruit Tree" several years ago. I was going to recommend it to you, but when I searched for it on the internet, apparently it has become rare and is selling for around 130-200 bucks The set came with a booklet about Nick Drake and his life....it is very, very sad. I love all of his music, but after reading about his life, his music makes me fell sad every time I hear it

Yea, thats were I heard of him too. I think that pink moon comerical singlehandling made it cool to have good music in commercials. Darke is probably my favorite musician and I've based alot of my guitar style off of his stuff. Me & a friend of mine are planning to perform the enitire pink moon album live sometime this summer.
