Members SilleeSpyder Posted May 26, 2005 Members Posted May 26, 2005 I was walking around in the acoustic room in Guitar Center and this guitar caught my eye so I sat down and tried it out. Man, it was like butter... real soft on the fretboard and very smooth sounding. It was the Takamine GS330s. I believe the neck is made of cedar. I've never played anything so worth the money. Even though the guitar I want is a Martin D15, I'll have to say this simple $300 guitar came close for me. Anyone else ever try one out? What do you think?
Members rockguitar2000 Posted May 26, 2005 Members Posted May 26, 2005 I went into my guitar center over the weekend looking for a new acoustic, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the Takamine EAN40C. They had 2 left, and this thing sounds great. I got a great deal on it too, $400.
Members Blackface Posted May 26, 2005 Members Posted May 26, 2005 I found a used Larrivee Parlor at guitar center for $240. That's the best cheap acoustic guitar I've played. I think they're alot more than that new though.
Members leftync Posted May 26, 2005 Members Posted May 26, 2005 A shame. I'd have sold you mine for less than $300. It is a good guitar. I'd planned on it's being my entry into playing, but I decided to go left-handed instead, and bought a Seagull. I'll sell the Takamine when I get around to it, I guess. The Tak has a very nice, sweet sound, I think. Very full.
Members KATMAN Posted May 26, 2005 Members Posted May 26, 2005 I recently bought a Takamine EG430SC,plays like a dream, solid wood guitar, nice rich tone. Solid cedar top and mahogany back and sides, satin finish, used guitar for $300. I'm really pleased. I was going to buy a Martin D-15,but the Tak blew it away,it was set up perfectly.
Members Fstpicker Posted May 29, 2005 Members Posted May 29, 2005 Those GS330S Taks are solid cedar tops with lam. nato B&S. Most of the ones I've played sound very good for the $$. Jeff
Members Cldplytkmn Posted May 29, 2005 Members Posted May 29, 2005 have one and it still gets played, although not as much as its older brother tak that i have... i love the tak cedar/mahogany guitars.
Members DICKTRON Posted May 31, 2005 Members Posted May 31, 2005 I agree. I've been in the market for a less expensive acoustic for a while now, mostly for playing at home, and possibly to do some rough demo work here soon. Couldn't find much of anything that really grabbed me that was in my price range locally. Went in to GC two weekends ago, and found the Takamine used. Little bit of bargaining, and I walked out with it and a decent gigbag for just over 2 bills. I've been playing it constantly since, in fact, I haven't touched my electrics except for weekly band practice. That is, when I can play, as my roommate seems to have taken a liking to it, and is always playing rather than his rather nice Taylor. Bastard!
