Members mklein86 Posted June 5, 2005 Members Posted June 5, 2005 I have an alvarez af60-ck that im looking to improve tone wise a bit. I was thinking a bone nut an d saddle would help, but does anyone have any other suggestions. Im really an electric player so i dont know a whole lot about this stuff, and if its even possible at all. Thanks in advance.
Members ChuckM Posted June 5, 2005 Members Posted June 5, 2005 Not familiar with that particular model, but you might also try different strings and bridge pins. What are looking for, More bass, mids ect? Chuck
Members edman316 Posted June 5, 2005 Members Posted June 5, 2005 The quickest improvement can be done by changing guitar string type and or brand. Switching to a bone saddle is a nice tone uprade over plastic. The nut has less impact on overall tone. Check out this website for nuts and saddles: http://www.guitarsaddles.com
Members alcarruth Posted June 6, 2005 Members Posted June 6, 2005 What's wrong with the tone as it is? There are a number of things you can do to 'improve' the sound of most guitars, but it all depends on what you want to improve about it. Be as specific as you can in describing the problem: saying that it sounds like a thin body Washburn won't tell us much. Is the bass 'thin', or nasal'? does it lack sustain, or punch? What's wrong?
Members edman316 Posted June 6, 2005 Members Posted June 6, 2005 You can change the tone by changing your picking hand position. Picking over the sound hole, behind the sound hole and in front of the sound hole produces different tones (neck is bass - bridge is treble). It's almost like a pickup selector on an electric guitar.
