Members guit30 Posted June 11, 2005 Members Posted June 11, 2005 Well. after all of the looking around and trying different things, my guitar was hanging on a wall for sale at Deluca's Music in Hatboro, my AD60S. I called them today and told them to put it back in it's case. For what I do, I need a dreadnaught and this Alvarez just has a great, rich tone and is really set up well. OM's and 000's are not for me, I am a country/bluegrass picker and this is good enough for what I do. It's a Korean one too, so it's a bit older and the top is wide open. Will pick it up early next week. Thanks for all of your help, it was fun looking at all of the different instruments, I guess the closest thing I went for was the Taylor 110, but honestly it is a bit too bright for me though a nice guitar. Also, for the money, my Alvarez looks a lot sturdier. I know they finally put a new neck on the 110, but really you have to get at least a 210 to get your money's worth and I just do not play that much for a $750 guitar, when all I have to do is drive up the road and get mine back for free. By the way, if you live in the area, Deluca's is a great place for set ups and guitar work, they have a tech and a luthier bothJim
Members JasmineTea Posted June 11, 2005 Members Posted June 11, 2005 Well, Im glad you got it solved. I was worried about you for a while, you were trying this and that and never happy. If you can get to a place that has a Martin OM-21, give it a try. Those that I've played were nice and warm, though it may be out of your price range. Another one you might try is the OM-16GT, about $800
Members guit30 Posted June 12, 2005 Author Members Posted June 12, 2005 The Oms just don't have the full sound and tone that I am looking for that a dread has, plus I like a 1 11/16 nut instead of the bigger 1 3/4 nut. You guys were great and honestly it was fun. I will be honest, part of it was i wanted a name brand guitar (like Taylor) but that doesn't always mean better. Every Taylor 110 has a totally different voice plus lots of blems on the tops. For now, I will be picking up the Alvarez tomorrow God Bless, Jim
