Members Grotto Posted July 4, 2005 Members Posted July 4, 2005 Has anyone heard of Celestial guitars that are supposedly high end Chinese guitars (Oxymoron I know etc). They have some odd and classic shapes etc. ANYONE KNOW?
Members Macartie Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 high end Chinese guitars (Oxymoron I know etc) That may have used to have been the case, but now some of the best factory built guitarsare coming out of China. Epiphone Masterbilt, Guild and Blueridge -- all quality instrumentsmade in China. I haven't heard of the oneyou mentioned, but I wouldn't be surprisedif it's decent. (Five years ago, I would haveassumed it to be crappy, though.)
Members scoutll Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 +1 Many of the chinese guitars are of very high quality. I have three acoustics, a Kona and two Hohner and an electric, SX strat that were all made in China. The Kona is constructed very nice but has laminate back and sides ect. The two Hohners (HC30 classical and HF75 concert size) are of all solid woods (stika spruce tops. ovangkol sides/backs, mahogany neck ect...) and are of exceptional quality. I would not hesitate to compare these to other guitars costing many times more (reviews here on HC). The SX has a good rep and is pretty well covered here on HC forums on a regular basis. Made in China doesn't mean it's junk anymore.
