well i thought i had tamed by guitar buying gene... came close to buying a 000-15S about a month ago, but i staved off that urge too... here's my new dilema.

i'm the first to admit that i'm a genuine gibson acoustic whore. it took my 4 years of playing to buy one, but that aside... i'm completely taken by the Advanced Jumbos... i went to the shop today and played one for almost an hour... they want about 1800 for it, which seems to be an alright price for it... I have a Les Paul Studio that i think they'll give me 500 trade on, or at least they would a month ago... but here's the kicker... i have cash set aside that i COULD use for this, but i'm not going to more than a couple hundred... whats really got me messed up is whether or not to trade my old fender bassman amp toward it. i've kinda sworn all along i'd never sell it... but i don't play it... and its pretty big...

trade? or keep the AJ on the 'someday' list... i don't wanna wait another four years for another gibson... haha...

I usually don't hold onto something very long if it is not getting much use. I would rather have something that does,

I say trade it:D

Depending on the year and condition, $500 seems a bit low for a Les Paul Studio, which are commanding $700 - $900 on ebay with regularity.

With patience, Advanced Jumbos can likely be purchased used for more like $1,300.

You've waited four years, so maybe you can wait just a bit longer to find the right deals...

Whatever you do, don't sell the Bassman.

The LP studio, I'd sell it in a heartbeat. Unless it's one of the old ones with all the switches and p-90s,and stuff.

I have a closet full of guitars that don't get played. (I'm talking about 15-20 guitars) I keep them for use in recordings, like having a cupboard full of different spices. They get used when they're needed, but not every day. So don't feel bad about having gear that sits. You'll find a use for it.

What about robbing gas stations?

I'd sell the Studio on Ebay instead of taking some paltry amount a music store would give you. Buying your acoustic on Ebay used might be cheaper but the sound might not be there.

Short answer is I would sell gear on EBay to get cash and then try and talk down the music store on the guitar you like. Trade ins at music stores are for suckers.

well the LP is a Gem Series with P-90s... i'm completely unattached to it as i only bought it from a friend to bail him out of a money pinch...

why wouldn't you sell the bassman JT? I'm just curious.

Yeah I meant Trade/Sell... i'd much rather sell to a player than give the music store more stuff to make money off of musicians.

I'm hearing from the amp forum that i might pull about 800 for the bassman... plus 5-600 from the LP and i'm pretty well off toward the AJ... I also have a marshall amp i might get a couple benjamins out of.

Just cause I think you'd miss it, I mean, I would.

I guess I have a soft spot for old Fenders. My Bassman is a '73 4/10. The mods are: tube rectifier, dual gain master, souped-up tone stack, tremolo. This amp is it's own god. Plus, it has wheels.

I have few more old fenders.
