Members chu2 Posted August 10, 2005 Members Posted August 10, 2005 Hey. Does anyone know how pezio pickups sound with gain, distorted? Like the sound? Post your thoughts!!
Members fantasticsound Posted August 10, 2005 Members Posted August 10, 2005 Not at all my favorite sound, but I've heard it work for some. Distortion, whether from a box or amp, driven by a piezo will always sound different than most classic distorted sounds. Has to do with the insanely high impedance most piezo's present to the input of an amp or pedal, in comparison to that of a magnetic pickup.

Members Terry Allan Hall Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 I use just enough distortion to make my piezo-equipted acoustic sound like a Les Paul through a Marshall...I do this so that I can do songs like Aqualung, and stuff like that, where there's a distinct "acoustic" and "electric" part to the song. Another thing to consider is that overdriving your piezo signal can create lots of feedback...which can be fun, at times!

John butler's tone is awesome too but he uses a sunrise soundhole pickup....oh and of course Esteban on the infomercials...ha ha ha ha
