Members thevoice Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 Hey all, I have a Vantage acoustic guitar (not great I know, but I usually play electric..). I have a slight problem in that if I play on the 13th fret on my high E string, I can't get the note to sound. It either buzzes out, or sometimes I get the F# from the 14th fret! What should I do to handle this ? The rest of the guitar sounds fine, and while I don't really play down there very often on acoustic, it is somewhat annoying at times. I figure I might need to file down the 14th fret a little as it seems to be hitting it, but I'd like to get some other opinions first.

Members JasmineTea Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 I'm not advising you to work on your guitar, but if it's a beater here's what I'd try: Get one of those plastic headed hamers, and try tapping the fret in. You might try loosening the truss a little.
Members sktn77a Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 Before you file or hammer anything down, take a very flat piece of metal and hold the edge against the 13th, 14th and 15th frets. If it doesn't rock, you don't have a high 14th fret and that's not your problem. Check out the Buzz Page on FRETS.COM Keith
