Members JasmineTea Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 Ok, I was out late last night, closed the bar, went to a party at a friends house, brought my guitar. Wine and song till the wee hours. I woke up on the couch around noon and discovered I had blood on my finger (first finger, strumming hand) looked at the guitar and there's blood splattered on the top, beneath the strings, and inside also. Kind of a lot... What's good for cleaning it off of there?
Members catdaddy Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 Nothing an 18 inch chain saw, a wet ball peen hammer, and 3 yards of duct tape can't handle.
Members viking11 Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 Nothing removes blood better than cold water. Basic but true.

Members knockwood Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 Did a summer as an emergency room volunteer when I was a kid. Hydrogen peroxide is the best blood-removing agent I've ever seen, but I have no idea how/whether it reacts with wood, lacquer, etc. Maybe try swabbing some onto an old chair or something before you approach the guitar with it.
Members whyflipoverthefrog Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 Use spit. Seriously. Spit is the universal solvent, will dissolve most stains and problem areas, and is extremely safe to use on wood, metal, skin, ANYTHING without producing a problem. Spit is also non-abrasive, so it won't scratch or mar any surfaces. You might try spitting straight on the stain and rubbing with your finger, slowly, or perhaps a soft rag if you don't want to mop up your blood with a finger. Best of luck! Oh, by the way, I've also found spit to be an awesome fretboard cleaner, and it won't dry out the fingerboard either!
Members strummilo Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 Do what you want to the girl, but leave the guitar alone!!!!!!!
Members JasmineTea Posted August 14, 2005 Author Members Posted August 14, 2005 Well, I tried everything in the order they were posted... Chain sawed, hammered, duct taped it.Threw a bucket of water at it.Dumped a bottle of hydrogen peroxide on it.Spit all over it. Thanks guys.
Members d28andm1911a1 Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 Don't shoot people so close to your guitar that the blood splashes that far. You should only have to shoot one heckler a night to keep the crowd in line.
Members Khan Fused Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 I read this out of morbid curosity, and I'd be willing to bet that I'm not the only one. My vote goes to very cold water. Wrap an ice cube in a paper towel, dampen it, squeeze out excess water, and very carefully rub the blood spot. Of course first experiment on a area of the guitar where a small blemish won't matter, j-i-c the guitar finish & water don't mix. Good luck!!
Members JasmineTea Posted August 15, 2005 Author Members Posted August 15, 2005 Just in case anyone's wondering: I did'nt shoot anyone while playing Melaguania.I did'nt impale anyone with a guitar.I did'nt etc ect. I got drunk while jamming at a fairwell party and wore the skin off my finger near the nail from SLAM-JAMMING the git too hard. I guess it was a good test run though. I just had the neck re-set and it seems to be ok. -kerSLAMMO!! (ouch!)
Members Cortfan Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 I knew that Esteban tape would cause some damage in the wrong hands.
Members strummilo Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 Why not keep the blood on the guitar? Everytime you get drunk..er...jam you can tell a different story of how it happened.
Members Pikeusa Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 How about regular old guitar cleaner and polish?
Members JasmineTea Posted August 15, 2005 Author Members Posted August 15, 2005 Originally posted by Pikeusa How about regular old guitar cleaner and polish? That would make too much sense. I tried some polish, no go. Hydrogen peroxide worked fine, did'nt hurt the finish. there's still some splattered inside, but I'm gonna leave it in there.
Members strummilo Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 I was cleaning my cross bow with the Motor City Mad man.....or, I was protecting the school marm from bandits...or, I was building a house for the orphans....or...
