Members JCJ Posted August 21, 2005 Members Posted August 21, 2005 Hi thereI have brazilian nylon stringed acoustic guitar. Is a medium/small guitar, made to play bossa-nova. I love it's short neck, and small body, because it gets some really nice mellow sounds.I was wondering what are the options out there on small scale acoustic guitars with steel/bronze strings??Now I just have a very simple Crafter acoustic, and was wondering about getting a nice little guitar...any opinions??
Members solitaire Posted August 21, 2005 Members Posted August 21, 2005 What's short scale in your book? 24.9" is more or less it at standard tuning. And I agree with America being a continent and not just the USA.
Members JCJ Posted August 21, 2005 Author Members Posted August 21, 2005 well, i dont really know about scales on acoustic guitars, because I mostly play electric.. But in electrics I really find 24.75" very comfy. Are there acoustics with 24" scale??
Members JCJ Posted August 21, 2005 Author Members Posted August 21, 2005 this Art & Luthery guitar is like what i have in mind: but, from the reviews i have read, it seems the nut is a bit narrow, then it isn't so comfortable for fingerpicking...
Members JasmineTea Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 I think you're looking for a "parlor" size guitar.
Members scoutll Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 The one on the right is a Hohner HC30 concert size classical. The one on the left is a HF75. Concert size steel string guitar, or as Hohner calls it, a folk guitar. Both have solid spruce top, solid ovangkol back and sides and mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard and headstock overly. The HF75 also has scalloped X bracing. The HF75 has become my favorite guitar. The neck is natural unfinished (just oiled) mahogany. The guitar is just an all round pleasant and comfortable guitar. You should have a look if you can find one to try out. The dimensions of the guitar are approximately 38.5" long14.75" lower bout11" upper boutAbout identical to a classical in dimensions.
