He will be famous soon I think. To think Django did that stuff with only two fingers.... amazingBut it's great to actually see somebody playing it, I've listened for years and not known how to even start with those fast tempos.
Members riovine Posted August 23, 2005 Members Posted August 23, 2005 jazzbo, have you ever seen any video of Birelli LaGrene? If not, you should definitly check some out. There is a DVD of a live concert in France in 2002, it has LaGrene and a bunch of other Django type players. Absolutly incredible. There's also guys like Jimmy Rosenberg, who was (like LaGrene) an early prodigy.

Members Shredkratcher Posted August 30, 2005 Members Posted August 30, 2005 Also check out Angelo Debarre - another gypsy guitarist. I just ordered one of his dvd's off of amazon.com. It arrived a couple days ago and the guy just smokes! All of those gypsy jazzers do. Careful though - its very addicting once you get started listening to these guys. Others worth checking out - Jimmy and Stochelo Rosenberg Romane Bireli Lagrene of course (he was declared Django's true successor though that may be an urban legend who knows??) Tchavolo Schmitt the list goes on and on... I'll have to check out this Joscho Stephan. Never heard him before.
