I'm gonna treat it like my bulldog. So it needs to be tough and cheap. Pretty ain't important. $500 sounds about right. I've heard about the Blueridge models, but the neck is a little too narrow and too thin and there's an issue about crowded headstock. Then there's the Tacoma Orpheum. But i can't find out too much about it. Any other solid wood fingerpicking guitars for a cheap slob?
Members onetubetone Posted September 1, 2005 Members Posted September 1, 2005 http://www.larrivee.com/data/products/guitars/OM-03R/OM-03R.htm I think you can get them for around $700 new or even less, $500 used in excellent condition.
Members JasmineTea Posted September 1, 2005 Members Posted September 1, 2005 Larry OM-03R works for me, but there's a big difference in tone compared to a Martin OM. Martin OM-16gt is about in that range, but it has micarta fret board and bridge. Some people have a problem with micarta, I don't. Larry is 25.5 Martin is 25.4
Members BmoreTele Posted September 1, 2005 Author Members Posted September 1, 2005 The Larrivee looks good, and I found one that went for $750 with case shipped on Ebay. I'll keep my eyes open. Looks like it's time for papa to sell some stuff. Any other suggestions? That Larry almost looks too pretty for me.

Solid Stika Spruce top. Solid ovangkol back and sides, fairly chunky smooth unfinished mahogany neck, rosewood board, scalloped bracing. Great sound and great quality at a great price. I took a chance and bought mine on ebay a few months ago and haven't been sorry at all. I was also looking for a small acoustic with a solid top. This one fits the bill for me. It is 25.5 scale but a 000 (Hohner calls it "folk") size. I don't know the seller, but this is the only one I found on ebay. Sometimes you can find them new old stock for around 150.00 including shipping. 38.5" long14.75" lower bout11" upper boutopen headstock like a classical. Uncommon on a steel string nowdays but I like it. 1 5/8" nut
