Members Eye_Of_The_Liger Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 I live in Houston, TX where it's like a sauna for about half of the year? Finally getting into playing acoustic, looking into buying an A & L.
Members UGB Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 yeah man. A & L's are awesome solid top guitars. Well, the base models are laminates but you can certainly get them solid cedar or spruce. Just treat your guitar like a pet.
Members strummilo Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 I've had my A&L for ten years and have taken it to the beach for the summer(east coast humid) after living year round in dry so. cal. It was the first time I ever smelled the cedar top. Wonderful smell, wonderful guitar.
Members Call me Ishmael Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 Why not a Rainsong? I hear they are good against humidity problems.
Members Eye_Of_The_Liger Posted August 30, 2005 Author Members Posted August 30, 2005 Dunno anything about Rainsongs... I'm mainly just worried about the humidity factor...
Members cfgsteak Posted August 30, 2005 Members Posted August 30, 2005 I believe Rainsongs are made out of carbon fiber and they aren't susecptable to humidity and heat issues. But I never played one and I don't know anything other then that.
Members MBET Posted September 5, 2005 Members Posted September 5, 2005 Rapid shifts/changes in humidity and temperature are harder on your guitar than the humidity/temp itself. Just keep the humidity and temperature in a range that would keep you comfortable, avoid really rapid changes (leave it in the case to adjust more slowly to it's new environment) and it should be OK. I don't think you need to worry about buying a guitar made out of carbon fiber just because it's humid...
