Members cfgsteak Posted October 2, 2005 Members Posted October 2, 2005 I started taken lessons for the first time yesterday. I am learning fingerstyle, and I have never strummed with my fingers before. MY FINGERS ARE KILLING ME!!! Oh man, I am really excited about learning this style, but geesh! Ouch!
Members ksargent Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Don't worry - it will go away quickly. Just don't overdo it. If you want to see/hear a player who is brutal on and with her hands, check out Rory Block. She really slams the strings with nothing but flesh. You can see a brief preview of her instructional video at www.homespuntapes.com. Makes my hands hurt just watching her. Ken
Members Misha Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Hi Cfgsteak! My fingers are in much better shape now! Be patient the pain will go away... a little bit! But if it hurts too much stop for a few hours or a few days! When the grooves come back I use a lotion and it goes away! The lotion I use is Glycerodermine. It is made in Quebec and I don't know if it is available in the States but I'm sure you could find something similar. Enjoy your lessons! Ciao!
