Members rlawsha Posted October 6, 2005 Members Posted October 6, 2005 I just picked up a new Yamaha FGX 720SC at our local guitar shop. I haven't played for about 20 years and now I have the bug again. I tried Martins and Taylors in this price range but to me the Yamaha had a much better sound, it sustained better and I liked the tone a lot. Why doesn't Yamaha list this model on their web site? Does Yamaha change the model number slightly from dealer to dealer to prevent price comparisons? I paid $419 for it locally. I didn't buy it here but you can see a picture of it.

Members Vibroluxman Posted October 7, 2005 Members Posted October 7, 2005 congrats on the new guitar, hope you have fun playing it. Yamaha makes a decent instrument, I have one of their classical guitars, it was my first guitar.
Members Tony Burns Posted October 8, 2005 Members Posted October 8, 2005 I also like Yamahas, my first New Guitar was a Yamaha 12 string- sounded better than the Guilds of that time ( 30 years ago I bought it and I still have it )- they make a very good guitar and some of their upper end models give some of the priceier guitars a run for the money- theyve been around for over 35 years, and are well respected around the world as top notch , they make practically every Instrument you can imagine - I also recently starting playing again after about a ten year absence, ---congratulations on your new Guitar !
