My friend is about to put electric strings on her acoustic because her fingers hurt playing acoustic strings. However, im afraid the neck of the guitar will warp, and will also sound like crap. Is that right?

+1 on lighter gauge strings. Just be warned that the tone will suffer.

Martin SP Fingerstyle 80/20 lights seem to be a bit easier on my fingers. For $6 a pack it wouldn't hurt to give them a try.

THE GUITAR NEEDS TO BE SET UP CORRECTLY.

The nut is probably too high.

A set of 12-52 strings are really very easy to play if the guitar is set up right.

The best money she could spend is to have a GOOD tech go over the instrument.
