Members DerryAir2003 Posted October 15, 2005 Members Posted October 15, 2005 Hi, I was at a party recently and a guy there did a blues cover of Nick Cave's Stagger Lee and it really blew me away. The lyrics of this song are so cool, and when this guy roared them at the top of his voice the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. I have a few Neil Young songs that I save for such occasions and Led's Going to California - but not in the same league as what this guy did. I was wondering what song's you guys would describe as your party pieces and have you any other suggestions. Thing about parties is that there is always drink involved so I usually try and avoid playing anything too tricky. I'm interested in getting into blues right now so maybe it might be cool to take a non-blues song and play it in the blues style. Its a while since I listen to Tom Waits so perhaps I might give him a lesson again...

Members catgut Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 A Blues cover of Nick's STAGGER LEE?! I wish I was at that party! What a cool and original choice. Usually the private parties I usually am at; when some guy grabs an acoustic it's just a weak voiced hippie doing a poor bob marley cover. "I'm a bad Motherf**ker duncha know... I'll crawl over 50 good p*ssies get to get to one fat boy's ass**le- said STAGGER LEE!!" Henry's Dream, Let Love In, Murder Ballads- that was his peak. But I still love ya nick.GOOD POST OP
