Members kdp86 Posted October 26, 2005 Members Posted October 26, 2005 Hey you guys! Well, on the topic of Alvarez, I think I've finally decided that I really really like jumbos. They sure look huge, but I'm not small, and holding one just feels good. Anyway, I've noticed that a lot of brands don't make non-laminate sides and back for maple jumbos, which struck me as odd, because usually if you look, you can find an all solid wood line for just under a grand from most good companies. Hell, Gretsch has a $1,500 jumbo that is laminate. SO, anyone had any experiences with the AJ60s??? (Alvarez) It sure is a looker I think, and I just was wondering if anyone knew anything about this strange trend.
Members kwakatak Posted October 26, 2005 Members Posted October 26, 2005 I believe that that model has laminated maple back & sides as well. I've tried a couple and the tone didn't impress me much: very thin-sounding, especially in the 12 string model.
