Takamine EF340..anyone have one?

I found it on tak's website as a discontinued model. Can't find any info as to what they sold for. I'm looking for a guitar and found one of these in the local pawn shop for $300 bucks with a hardshell case. Didn't know if it was a good deal.

That sounds like a fair price. It's basically a copy of a Martin D-18 but with laminated materials. Is it one of the older ones with the Martin-style headstock and lettering?

Looking for my first guitar and happened upon this one. I'll try to take some pics if they'll let me on monday.

 

I posted another thread about playing heavier music and the Tak's and Ibanez were the only referred so far.

 

But don't know which models to look at.

"Heavier music"? Do you mean hard rock?

 

The EF-340 might be good enough, but I've never played one. I hear good things about Takamine's big blonde jumbo, the EG-523SC though.

The EF340 has solid spruce top per Takamine site with Mahogany sides

 

The F340 is laminate

Yes, hard rock is what I meant. Actually more modern alternative, just not folk or country, classical, etc.

I have a Tak F360 with the Martin style headstock. I got it a few years ago on Ebay for about $250 bucks. It's been a great guitar, plays well and sounds perfect.

I have a ef349 I bought 20 years ago. Old Martin style headstock logo. Great sound for lam.
