Members The Armadillo of leprosy Posted November 27, 2005 Members Posted November 27, 2005 hah you thought this was another cheap guitar post didn't you! mwahahahah ok , sorry I'm trying to pick out somethings for christmas to ask for and all but i'm having a hard time really deciding on anything...so where else would i go but here if i can't decide I thought it would help me and maybe more if you could list accessories for acoustic guitar under 100 dollars that you couldn't live without I've already got a good case, tuner and capo (which better not touch a 100 dollar limit! lol) so hit me!
Members kwakatak Posted November 27, 2005 Members Posted November 27, 2005 Here are some ideas: some hardshell cases can be found in that price range. Gotoh 510 tuning machines. bone saddle from Bob Colosi or Stewmac bridge pins (ebony, rosewood, bone, etc.) JLD Bridge Doctor (if you like the Breedlove tone or have a bridge pulling up)

Members knowspicker Posted November 28, 2005 Members Posted November 28, 2005 A hygrometer/thermometer would be useful. Then you can obsess about humidity. Eric

Members da mayor Posted December 2, 2005 Members Posted December 2, 2005 custom made from vintage leather guitar strap from www.sullysstraps.com. About $65-95 bucks.
Members IAmAScientist Posted December 2, 2005 Members Posted December 2, 2005 My dad has a rad tuner that attaches to the head stock. Its an awesome device. Don't remember who puts it out though. Get a good pup for your acoustic, if you don't already have one. Maybe some polish? Pay someone to clean it....mine could use a cleaning...
Members Misha Posted December 2, 2005 Members Posted December 2, 2005 Under 100 dollars... ... A pick!!!

Members gnurph Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 How about the Planet Waves Pro winder... windes the tuner (which I never use it for), bridge pin puller, string cutter, string stretcher. +1 on pick(s)... but go for something like hoof or horn, not a plastic... make it special and cool. Strings are like socks... good to have, but noone ever gets me the right ones, and it's like admiting you don't know what to get me. Music instructional literature, chosen based on recipients skill level. I.E. if the receipient quite good at classic fingerstyle, get them an advanced techniques book.
Members kwakatak Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 Here are some more ideas. Korg tuners are cheap So are musical staffs. How about a guitar stand? Or a String Swing? Room humidifiers go for around $40. Shure mics are decent (SM-57) and go for about $80. Behringer makes some decent mixers that are all under $100. I have a UB1202 that goes for about $80. Not guitar related, but what about one of those little egg-shaped maracas or some other type of small hand-held percussion instrument? If you record on your home PC like I do it's sometimes good to have a little light percussion in the mix.

Members Misha Posted December 5, 2005 Members Posted December 5, 2005 + 1 for a Behringer mixer! I bought a UB502 for 50$ CAD and it works fine!! I can record myself and it also drives my headphones nicely now, much better than my integrated souncard!

Members kwakatak Posted December 5, 2005 Members Posted December 5, 2005 That looks like an Intellitouch tuner. I don't know how much they cost exactly, only that there are two models and the more expensive one lights up. Both are under $100 I believe. Misha - for software try Audacity for free. I refuse to give Adobe or any other big software company my potential GAS money!

I refuse to give Adobe or any other big software company my potential GAS money! That is the Intellitouch Tuner. The pic is a hyper link. They now have 3 tuners. The Intellitouch that retails at $70.00, a bare bones unit at $40.00 and one for fiddles & horns at $35.00.best tuner investment I'm made. GC had them for about $50.00 when I bought mine. One of the best recording programs out there is n-Track Studio. at $49.00 for the standard program with 16 bit recording and $79.00 for the one that supports 24 bit recording. Will handle as many tracks as your computer can process and supports Direct X and VHT plugs.Windows only....
Members nylon rock Posted December 5, 2005 Members Posted December 5, 2005 I like my guitar to look like a guitar and no more. Clipping a flimsy Intellitouch on the headstock goes against this. They're flimsy since they have this universal joint that allows the view meter to face you. But if you like the way one looks folded down on the back of your headstock, enjoy.
