Members JimAnsell Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 i just got my nylon string guitar professionally set up with extra high tension strings. big mistake. the notes are way harder to fret than i thought. if i restrung it with light tension strings, would i have to get it re-set up? or would the action and intonation stay the same?
Members riffmeister Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 possibly, you might have to shim the saddle a bit. try normal tension strings....D'Addario makes a nice neutral sounding nylon string...
Members Lacoste Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 It can be a problem. My classical guitar (Alhambra 5P) is perfectly set up for normal and high tension strings. It's completely out of tune with extra high tension strings. Different brands of strings can have bad results as well, by the way.
