Members netsmith2001 Posted January 1, 2006 Members Posted January 1, 2006 Hi ... I am a bass player taking up acoustic and I recently bought a used Ovation Celebrity CC057. I find the non amplified sound a little flat or dull even after a new set of strings. I am wondering if anyone has found a brand of strings that mates well with the acoustic qualities of the Celebrity that brings out a warmer, richer sound. I can't remember the make of the strings I put on, someone gave them to me. Thanks.
Members DonK Posted January 1, 2006 Members Posted January 1, 2006 You could try Adamas strings, which is what Ovation's ship with (they're distributed by Kaman, the same company that makes Ovation). Also, is it possible the strings you were given were Elixirs. Elixirs are coated strings that have become very popular, but they have a Gore-tex coating that makes them last longer but also makes them less bright than non-coated strings. If you have Elixirs on the guitar now, just about any 80/20 bronze or phosphor bronze string will sound brighter.
Members KATMAN Posted January 2, 2006 Members Posted January 2, 2006 Try some D'Addarios' phospher bronze .11-.52,I just put some on my Takamine and they are a perfect fit. The tone is great unplugged and should be a good fit for axw as well.
