Members martingibson70 Posted January 1, 2006 Members Posted January 1, 2006 I am and have always been primarily an acoustic player and most of my favorite songs to play on acoustic were not originally acoustic. Playing the standard acoustic fare on an acoustic guitar is great. However, while gigging or playing with friends, the biggest compliments I receive are when I pull off some Hendrix: Little Wing/ Purple Haze/The Wind Cries Mary SRV: Crossfire/ Pride and Joy ( I know it was later recorded acoustically for Unplugged- still that in itself proves my point) Brian May:Tie Your Mother Down / Crazy Little Thing Clapton: original Layla You really have to wrench and muscle your acoustic to pull off some of the bends, hammers, pull-offs and accomodate for the lack of sustain with pick dynamics. Having said that, here's some more 1. Tempted by Squeeze (Crowds love this one and Jenny)2. Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley3. Rikki Don't Loose That Number - Steely Dan4. Jenny/867-5309 by Tommy Tutone5. Never Going Back Again - Fleewood Mac / This took me 3 months to learn to play well and most crowds don't give a rip. Great thread. I often find myself putting together a playlist on my IPOD of the perfect "unplugged" set for my coffee house gigs. Thanks.
