Members unpluggedthumb Posted January 8, 2006 Members Posted January 8, 2006 I'm craving a Martin D28, or HD28.
Members DonK Posted January 8, 2006 Members Posted January 8, 2006 Right now I've got my eye on a Blueridge BR-183 or 283 and am close to pulling the trigger, basically a pre-war Martin OM copy with a modified-V neck. They get great reviews and look awesome.
Members scottgd Posted January 8, 2006 Members Posted January 8, 2006 My wife just put an end to my 5 year old case of GAS with this.http://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/choosing/guitars.php?p=m&m=000-28EC I think I'll keep her. The wife too.
Members musicbox Posted January 8, 2006 Members Posted January 8, 2006 What a wife! If I had GAS for 5 years, my girl would just kick me out of bed. So tell me, which one is nicer to play? Er...fingerpick?...er....listen to? I think I better start bringing up the 000-15s in conversation now..."How are you today honey?""000-15s...""Is your back sore?""If I had a 000-15s it might be better""Do you want a massage?""Sure! I'd love a 000-15s!!!!""What do you want for dinner?"" A 000-15s? Why honey, you're so thoughtfull!!!!!!"It'll work....trust me..

If you keep saying "Larrivee" for the next five years, do you think she would buy ME an L 05?
Members badtzwang Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 Just curious ... what does GAS stand for? I can only guess that it means Guitar Acoustic Shopping?

Father's Day was approaching and I think I had a conversation very similar to what you describe. It ended with, "oh, go ahead and get your stupid Strat-o-whatever it's called". I immediately complied beore she changed her mind.
Members kwakatak Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 A Larrivee OM-03R with some decent bearclaw and the new style Tortise-shell pickgaurds. Shortly after I would probably put a bone saddle and ebony bridge pins on it. I'd also put a new set of tuners on it - either open-back Waverly-styles with ivory buttons or gold Gotoh 510s with ebony buttons. I might also consider buffing the satin finish to a nice semi-gloss if I get tired of the satin finish. I might also consider the slothead version of the same (OM-03R SH) that are quickly selling out up at the 12th Fret in Toronto. Of course, that's just for starters. I'd also love to have a nice Martin D-28 someday as a sort of upgrade from my "Martin-lawsuit" Takamine F-360. Gotta stop now... the list is building!
Members musicbox Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 See! Told you it works. So far I just get blank stares...Perhaps I'll try leaving a Martin Guitar catalouge out, with big red arrows and hearts around the 000-15s... To bad Martin has such ugly names though:"tripple aught 15 es". Maybe she'd be more understanding if I just asked for the "Norman Blake":thu: Sounds like you've got some interest building back up kwak..better indulge before you forget how nice a new guitar feels...
Members kwakatak Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 mmm... now I have 12 fret slothead 000 GAS! Thanks, musicbox! List is building...Larriv
Members Cldplytkmn Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 I'm gassing for money to pay for my recording project... after i pay that off i can worry about guitars again...
Members t60 fan Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 "Do you want a massage?""Sure! I'd love a 000-15s!!!!" I was with you 'till that line. If my wife offered me a massage, I wouldn't want a guitar (not even a 000-15s, which I do have serious GAS for myself). I'd want a paramedic 'cause I'd probably have a heartattack from the shock. As to the topic of the thread, 50/50 between a 000-15s and a D03-R Larrivee. Thats if I'm being somewhat realistic. If not, then its a Santa Cruz D/PW.

Members hondro Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 as far as acoustics I was gasing for an HD-28 for a long time after playing a real gem, but then I was stricken with playing really bad HD-28's, so now I want an SJ-200

Members da mayor Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 Thank you sir. You are a scholar and a gentleman. Now if I only could afford that puppy. I see you too are a SCGC fan. Maybe if we pool our resources. I'll take it the first 6 months, then you. Whaddya say? You in?

If she-who-must-be-obeyed saw a new guitar in the house, I'd have to live in it's hardshell during my six months.
Members da mayor Posted January 9, 2006 Members Posted January 9, 2006 That would be difficult. Oh well, on to Plan B. Hmmm, wonder what I can get for the car?

Actually, I've never gotten to see/play the model you referred to. In fact, I've only played one in my life, a used D/PW, and it took my breath away. Simply stunning, articulate (esp. for a dread) and LOUD. Now my highest aspiration.
