Run, do not walk from the Guitar Center in Rockville (or the ones in Fairfax, Arlington, Towson and Glen Burnie for that matter) and head for Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center about five miles away in Wheaton. Ask for Brian Meader (or Paul Shine). You'll find at least twice the selection, four times the stock, and prices that will be 10% - 15% lower on anything but the cheapest stuff. And the service is awesome. Brian or Paul will treat you like you were SRV, EVH or EC.

Victor Litz in Gaithersburg (a couple of miles from Rockville, depending on where in Rockville you live) has a much more limited selection - they sell Fender, Martin, Fender, Ovation, Washburn, and Takamine, and not much else - but also has great prices and excellent service. I got my EJ Strat there for $1,300 (GC $1,609) and my SRV for $1,000 (GC $1,199). Ask for Tony, he's the owner.
