Members eyeball987 Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 I can get what I think is a pretty good deal on the Seagull's. $299 but I have heard of some durability issues with the finishes. I also like the idea of the solid top over the Ibanez laminate but this is really supposed to be a beater guitar for me anyway. I need some opinions on taking the Iba back that I bought three days ago and getting one of the Seagulls or even an Alvarez in the $300 range. What is the consesus here? I am goign to do this later today. Oh yeah, this is the Ibanez that I picked up. It plays pretty well and has a bright tone like the 414-RCE that I had but it lacks some bottom end and complexity. Ibanez Exotic Wood
Members Vere Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 the seagulls that i have tried seem to have different neck profiles than the ibanez models i've tried. the alvarez models get much nicer nice at a just slightly higher price point.

I noticed that. The Alvarez models that I tried did too. The Seagulls have much beefier neck and the others had more of a thinner electric type of neck.
Members eyeball987 Posted January 9, 2006 Author Members Posted January 9, 2006 I bought the M6. It just destroyed the Ibanez tone wise and it is really a nice looking and playing guitar as well. I usually like brighter guitars but this thing sounds very, very good with the cedar top and mahagony back and sides. I really like the warm bottom end.
