Members Cmogi10 Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 So I was at my local music store and I played a wonderful martin HD28, completely out of my price range...I have a taylor 714ce that I'm in love with, but I really was diggin the martin sound. Anyways, Im looking for an alternative budget friendly(er) acoustic that sounds similar... I stumbled across this and I was looking for opions or experiance with it... Solid Sitka Spruce Top Premium solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides Premium ebony fingerboard and bridge Nut and saddle are made from bone Scale length of 25.5" Anything?
Members rhythmdoctor Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 That's it! The blueridge models br160 and br180 are great sounding dreads for the price and they're all solid woods. The only difference between the 2 models (160 & 180) is the ornamentation (the 180 is a bit fancier and a bit more expensive). Good luck!
Members Cmogi10 Posted January 24, 2006 Author Members Posted January 24, 2006 I like the fretboard inlays more on the 180...thats the only selling point for me, I dont think it justifies the cash though...
Members Freeman Keller Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 Let your own ears be your guide Maury's Martin clips More Martin clips And this is one of the best on line guitar comparisons I've ever heard even if you aren't in the market for an Authentic HD28 vs D18GE vs D18A Remember too that 714 and HD28 are both redwood bodies, but the Taylor is cedar top and 28 is spruce, as well as the difference between a GA and a dread. Having one of each would be a nice quiver.
Members DonK Posted January 25, 2006 Members Posted January 25, 2006 I'm on the verge of springing for a BR-183 myself, sort of as a replacement for the 000-28 I sold a few years ago. The Blueridge guitars sound awesome IMO and are incredible values.
