I just got a new acoustic and now I'm going to need a pickup. I'm pretty sure I don't want a sounddole type because from the few I've heard, they don't sound very natural at all

I'm thinking one of the Dean Markley ones like this one

How easy is this to install, and do they sound any good?

Or do these sound any good?

Or does anybody have any other suggestions? Or would I be best off just taking it to my shop and having them install something?

I guess I just need suggestions...I don't want to spend very much and I need something that sounds good with easy intallation

I agree with OneTubeTone.

After a lot of research I put a Trinity Pure Western in my Martin D35. Hands down it blew away most of the other ones I demoed at the music store!

I have now had it in my guitar for about 18 months. Hardly a week goes by that someone doesn't comment about how great and natural my guitar sounds.

I am now getting another one to put in my Dean AK48.

If you want to save money purchase a blemished version on www.eBay.com. K&K Sound sells their $99.00 model on eBay for $49.00.

The only thing I do not like about the Pure Western is the bulky box you have to hang on your belt. Hopefully, they will eventually design something better. That being said, however, I wouldn't trade how my guitar now sounds for any other unit.

Trust me, you won't regret buying it! It sounds much better than a lot of units costing twice the price. Before buying it, I demoed everything I could find at my local music store and also read a lot of reviews on the internet.

The Pure Western name scares some people away. But believe me when I say this, it sounds great on any style music!

In closing, just let me say that it took me 10 years to scrape the money together to purchase my Martin D35 ($2400.00 retail). I sure as heck didn't want to take a chance on putting in a pickup that I wasn't absolutely certain I would have in there for long, long time.

Well, there are very good soundhole pickups (Sunrise for example), but I would avoid either of the two you are looking at. I'll join the K&K choir here 'cause that is what I have in my guitar (K&K Trinity system). They are incredible sounding pickups and worth every penny you spend. If you are going to be spending a bit of time with you acoustic plugged in - don't skimp on the pickup!
