Members TikiPalooza11 Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Guitar/Acoustic?sku=514817 For solo acoustic stuff. I want volume and it to have the ability to do harmonics like Michael Hedges' stuff. Is this a good bet? Thanks
Members emir Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 I have a regular scale 000, not a martin but close enough, she sounds sweet, solid fundamentals with just enough overtones to excite me as a player. playing (arpeggiated) harmonics is very much a technique, even responsive guitars might just dissapoint the novice player. im not suggesting that youre a less than proficient player, tikipazoola. Michael Hedges played a Dred, and if youre looking for volume, i can say that not all 000 are cannons.
Members Freeman Keller Posted February 3, 2006 Members Posted February 3, 2006 As Emir said, Michael Hedges played a dread - I think a D-28 along with his harp guitar. He also played in a lot of altered tunings - mostly DADGAD but others as well. I still play his Aerial Boundries cd and marvel at what he could do with just two hands and six strings My little home made 000-28 has surprising volume for a small bodied guitar and the harmonics just ring out on it. Most guitars should play good harmonics - particularly if the saddle is well compensated.
